Winster

Hidden up in the limestone hills and surrounded by glorious scenery, Winster has long  been a popular destination for both local visitors and those choosing to spend their holidays in the area.

about.jpg

With more than 70 listed buildings - many dating back to the 17th century - the village has one of the most impressive street scenes in the Peak District which includes  the Old Market Hall, the first ever property acquired by The National Trust.

With a strong community spirit some ancient traditions are still upheld in the village with pancake races on Shrove Tuesday and groups of Morris Men and "Guisers" performing at various local events. There are also annual Well Dressings, a Carnival and open garden days.

Situated just 8 miles from the grounds of Chatsworth House and within close proximity to many other historic villages and attractions, Winster provides a perfect location to explore the area, on foot or by car. Should you be looking for things to do and where to go, the area's official tourism website provides a good place to start - Vist Online Here
